Normal website usage
Project Open Hand has a firm commitment to internet privacy. You can visit most portions of openhand.org without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. The only information we collect from a normal web site visit is the name of your internet service provider, the browser and type of machine you are using, the web site that referred you to us, the pages you request and the date and time you request them. We use this information to generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors.
Collection of personally identifiable information
Project Open Hand may collect e-mail addresses and other personally identifiable data about visitors when such data is voluntarily submitted to openhand.org. For example, our site uses online forms for visitors to request information, sign-up for e-mail updates, register for special events, or make a donation. Contact information from the online form is used solely to provide information to the requester, or process and acknowledge donations or event registrations. Financial and credit card information is used solely to bill donors in connection with these transactions.
Project Open Hand makes every effort to ensure the secure collection and transmission of sensitive credit card information using industry accepted data collection and encryption methodologies.
Project Open Hand does not sell or otherwise disclose such user information outside the organization. We never sell, rent, exchange or otherwise disclose e-mail addresses or phone numbers. However, names and postal addresses of some donors may be exchanged with other organizations whose missions are compatible with Project Open Hand, and for strictly limited use. Donors may opt out of such donor list exchanges.
