SUMMARY:Unveiling of our Window Retro-Fit Project
DESCRIPTION:We're continuing to green our operations with a window retro-fit and we'd love for you to come out and see it!  Join us on Wednesday, March 7th from 10-11am for an unveiling of the new Climate Seal window inserts that we are installing around the building. The owner of Environmental Window Solutions, LLC, Matthew Petit, will be here from the East Coast to help celebrate the occasion. We will have a short program about the benefits of the system, a demonstration of their proper usage, news about how the project was funded, and what benefits we hope to see from this innovative design! Summary of the project: Our windows were inadequate for insulation so we found an energy-efficient custom-fitted window insert that installs on the inside of the existing windows using magnets, creating an energy-efficient double-pane window while leaving existing frames and windows intact. The project will save more than $7,500 annually in gas and electric costs and we will also see an annual reduction in their production of greenhouse gases by tens of thousands of pounds.

SUMMARY:We Were Here Opening Night Benefit Premiere
DESCRIPTION:Opening Night Benefit Premiere of We Were Here Produced and directed by David Weissman, We Were Here has recently been accepted into the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals. It is the first documentary to take a deep and reflective look back at the arrival and impact of AIDS in San Francisco. This film explores how the City’s inhabitants were affected by, and how they responded to, that calamitous epidemic. Though a San Francisco-based story, We Were Here extends beyond San Francisco and beyond AIDS itself. It speaks to our capacity as individuals to rise to the occasion, and to the incredible power of a community coming together with love, compassion, and determination. The evening’s proceeds will benefit two of San Francisco’s AIDS Service Organizations, Project Inform and The Shanti Project, as well as support further distribution of this important film. "We Were Here" is absolutely electrifying. I wept, sure, but mostly from relief that this story has finally been told with all its dimensions intact: the panic, the betrayals, the brave humor, the enormity of what we lost yet, ultimately, affirmed for the ages. It's a love story about the resilience of our tribe. Go see it at the Castro, where the screen will be almost as big as what you're feeling.   - Armisted Maupin on Facebook Click here for more information or to purchase tickets.
