“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.”
Ancient Chinese Proverb
In 1985, Ruth Brinker began preparing meals in her own kitchen in North Beach and delivering them to neighbors who were homebound with HIV/AIDS. Undoubtedly, she began a revolution in compassion, yet she always said, “I didn’t do anything special. I did what anyone would do.”
Project Open Hand is all about being a good neighbor. Find out how you can help provide “meals with love” to our neighbors in need by learning about our volunteer opportunities or by exploring our job opportunities.
