POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Operations (DOO) is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the Operations Department including: Purchasing/ Receiving, Facility Maintenance/ Building Operations and Security. As pertains to Operations, the DOO is responsible for 730 Polk Street, San Francisco and 1929 San Pablo Avenue, Oakland. The DOO is a member of the Agency Directors team.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in large-scale foodservice operations with multi-million dollar budgets
  • Experience running large teams and multiple departments

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees day-to-day management of the Operations team
  • Prepares and maintains the respective departments’ operating and payroll budgets
  • Establishes and develops operational policies and procedures to improve overall efficiency across the departments
  • Works closely with CFO and Finance team to ensure the overall financial health of the agency
  • Responsible for all vendor relationships as they relate to the Operations Department
  • Clearly describes, assigns and delegates responsibility and authority for the operation of the various sub-departments under his/her supervision; conducts appropriate meetings and coordinates with other departments to ensure that proper communications leads to maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Directs and coordinates activities with the Manager of Purchasing to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are followed with respect to the Purchasing functions including: the selection of vendors, submission of orders, receipt of goods and payment of invoices. Makes every effort to control agency costs
  • Directs and coordinates activities with the Manager of Security to ensure safety at the 730 Polk Street facility and as needed at the Oakland facility. Ensures efficiency within the Security Department including negotiating and monitoring contracts with outside security services  
  • Directs and coordinates activities with the Director of Building Operations to ensure that 730 Polk Street and 1929 San Pablo Ave, Oakland are maintained, that all mechanical equipment is in good working order and oversees the task-request system and the green projects of Project Open Hand
  • Responsible for completing annual performance appraisals of staff; and recommends hiring, promoting and disciplinary actions of staff when appropriate
  • Serves on the Agency Directors team
  • Performs other duties as may be required

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Network Administrator is responsible for planning and maintaining the design, programming, operations and maintenance of information systems hardware and software, including telecommunications, email and report writing.

Qualifications Required:

  • 2 -3 years’ of Desktop support with Microsoft Windows XP
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010
  • 2-3 years’ experience with Microsoft Windows 2003 and 2008 Server
  • 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Exchange 2007 and 2010

Qualifications Desired:

  • 1-2 years’ of Desktop support with Microsoft Windows 7
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience maintaining Nortel Meridian phone system

Title:  Swing Cook
Department:  Kitchen 
Reports to:  Kitchen Administrative Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary assignment for the Swing Cook is to be a vacation reliever for other personnel in the kitchen. The Swing Cook must be flexible to work any shift, any day including weekends, nights and holidays. The Swing cook may be called upon to work double shifts at times. The Swing Cook will spend time in each department learning the roles of our Senior Lunch Program (SLP), HIV Regulars, HIV Special Diets, Soup Program and the PM Production Manager shift. The “home” shift for this position will be on SLP Shift- 5AM to 1 PM Monday- Friday. When the person is in the swing role they will move to a shift that needs coverage.  The Swing cook will work side by side with staff in all areas to learn the role and the job assignments. Temporary assignments for training could be from 1 week to a month depending on the assignment and the needed training. Swing cooks will also be trained in food and produce ordering, working on the packaging line and preparing production paperwork for the kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Successful experience working in a commercial or industrial kitchen as a member of a team
  • Training, understanding and experience with HACCP procedures
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English to facilitate communications in the kitchen

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  • Experience with high volume meal production
  • HACCP certification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete assigned training time in each of the five main areas of our operation; HIV regulars, HIV special diets, SLP, Soup Program and the PM Production Manager shift.
  • Baking, roasting and braising of meats, preparing soup, sauces, stock, starches and vegetables

Title:  Senior Lunch Program (SLP) Cook

POSITION SUMMARY:

The SLP Cook is responsible for assisting in the daily production of all prepared food products distributed by Project Open Hand. The SLP Cook works with all kitchen staff to provide supervision and a safe, rewarding experience to those assisting as volunteers. The SLP Cook works a small portion of the shift doing actual cooking tasks such as sauté, baking, roasting or stewing and the bulk of the shift doing varied prep tasks in support of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • At least one year of experience in a high volume food facility as a member of a team
  • Training, understanding and experience with HACCP procedures
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English to facilitate communications in the kitchen
