Third Annual People Paddle for AIDS
South Beach Harbor, Pier 40 at Embarcadero
Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 10:30am


Kayak on the Bay to help Project Open Hand and to fight against AIDS. Up to 200 paddlers will launch from South Beach Marina at Pier 40 and the Embarcadero in San Francisco at 10:30am and paddle to a turn in Mc Covey Cover for a big "raft up" photo opportunity, them paddle back to South Beach Pier 40 at 12:30 p.m. The festivities continue from noon - 5 p.m. with a large, free festival at South Beach Harbor complete with an awards ceremony, live music, and corporate booths. Some of the Bay Area's most talented pastry chefs will assemble once again for our Eighth Annual Dessert First at the W San Francisco on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. Besides the fantastic desserts, there will also be hors d'oeuvres, wine, port, and Silent and Live Auctions. Avon Walk for Breast Cancer
July 12 and 13, 2008


The Avon Foundation has been a strong supporter of our breast cancer services and this year, you can be part of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The Avon Walk is either a marathon walk (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half over two days. You can either walk and raise funds for breast cancer by collecting pledges,or you can sponsor a participant or volunteer. Visit www.avonwalk.org for details. 22nd Annual AIDS Walk San Francisco

Project Open Hand is a major beneficiary of Up Your Alley on Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. This is a local volunteer driven event that provides the adult alternative lifestyle community with a safe venue for self-expression at the same time as emphasizing freedom, fun, frolic and fetish, while raising funds for Project Open Hand and 17 other charities. Admission to the Up Your Alley Fair is free with a suggested donation of $5.00. Attendees who choose to provide the suggested donation receive a sticker which entitles them to $1.00 off all beverage prices. Volunteers are needed. To help volunteer please call (415) 447-2417. Project Open Hand/SF Giants Plate to Plate 5K Run/Walk Across Home Plate
AT&T Park, San Francisco

POH will host its Second Annual 5K Run/Walk in conjunction with the San Francisco Giants. Participants will once again have the unique opportunity to cross home plate at AT&T Park! The event also consists of a festival featuring food, giveaways and live entertainment after the run/walk. Registrations include a ticket to the game that day (Giants vs. the San Diego Padres). 13th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival

The 13th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival, a benefit for POH, will host more than 30 booths each day featuring a variety of chocolate delicacies from some of the best Bay Area restaurants and bakeries.
