We All Live Here. Let's Not Be Strangers.
New POH Public Service Announcement Kitchen Hits the Airwaves
Extending its "neighbors helping neighbors" advertising campaign launched in 2003, Project Open Hand recently introduced Kitchen, a new public service
announcement (PSA) airing on local and cable television channels starting November 2004. The objective of the PSA is to generate donations and recruit new
volunteers for POH.
Kitchen, created by San Francisco advertising agency Publicis Dialog, is a 30-second television commercial dramatizing an everyday scene for
Project Open Hand clients. In the PSA, a hot, nutritious meal is lovingly prepared and delivered to someone who is critically ill and unable to cook.
The act of providing meals with love is rich with the warmth, dedication, and resolve of volunteers and clients, and this spirit is communicated by the "stars"
of the commercial, volunteer Lyle Lim and Project Open Hand client Eric Skiver.
Donating its time and services, Publicis Dialog recruited a team of top creative professionals to bring this scene to life in vivid and moving detail. Creative Directors
John Munyan and David Popino enlisted the help of Account Manager Gary Holloway, Director Michele Clement (Michele Clement Studios), Producer Robin Simon Beres, Director of Photography
Andy Lilien, Stylist Lisa Fremont, Voice Actor Joe Paulino, and a host of other talented professionals who all generously donated their services.
Kitchen was filmed on location in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.
Additionally, the local chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America produced a hand-stitched sampler to serve as the PSA's end card.
This sampler provides POH's phone number and web address and, in capturing the homespun feeling begun with the outdoor and print components of this campaign,
reinforces the "high-touch" services POH provides.
Project Open Hand is deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to the creation of Kitchen, as well as to the local and television cable channels
donating airtime.
