At 6 am this morning, I walked into the Project Open Hand kitchen as I do every morning. Chef Adrian, Leah and the amazing team were already hours into their day preparing meals for our clients. At the other end of the floor, Otto and Jedi were loading up our vans with food for our senior sites all across town. The energy was focused, positive and hopeful.

Everyone knew what we had to do: never miss a day of providing meals with love to the sick and elderly.

So today we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and get back to the work of helping others, just like Ruth Brinker did 32 years ago. We will listen to the teachings of this election, try every day to assume the best in people and take time to heal as a nation. And we’ll move forward.

And we know deep in our hearts that our core values of treating others with love and dignity will carry us through.
