It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news of the passing of Project Open Hand Board Member Ann Kennedy, who passed away suddenly on October 09 in Napa. Ann's closest friends, Michael Kinsella, Matthew Woebcke and Patricia Nolan were by her side. Ann was focused on saving the lives of her friends during the outbreak of the October 09 North Bay fires when she suddenly passed away.

Ann joined the Project Open Hand Board of Directors in 2016 and developed a passion for the mission of providing meals with love to seniors and critically ill neighbors.

"Ann was recently talking about how thrilled she was to be involved with Project Open Hand," said CEO Mark Ryle. "Ann's warmth and spirit will always be inspiring."

Ann was born May 9, 1962, to Raymond J. and Catherine J. (Knight) Kennedy in Waterbury, CT. Growing up in Oakville and Watertown, CT, Ann graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Waterbury, CT in 1980 and from Boston College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics. In 1989, Ann became a licensed Certified Public Accountant and became a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1995.

Ann was a respected colleague and mentor to many at the firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers for over 33 years, including 22 years as a partner, with the majority of her career having been spent in the Boston and San Francisco offices. Ann was a resident of San Francisco, but maintained additional residences in Napa, CA and Narragansett, RI and formerly in Newton, MA. Ann relished her bi-coastal life and its oceans and vineyards. Hers was a life filled with the warmest of family, colleagues, and friends, along with travel, reading, golf, fine wines and a special affection for her friend's French bull dogs (Sadie and Sal).

Ann was predeceased by her parents;  Raymond J. and Catherine J. (Knight) Kennedy and her beloved brother; Kevin Kennedy.  She is survived by her sisters; Elizabeth Sharman and her husband Charles of Oxford, CT and Kathleen Kennedy and her partner, Paula Maionchi of Richmond, Kentucky, and her brother; David Kennedy and his wife, Donna Austin Kennedy of Milford, CT.  Ann is also survived by her sister-in-law; Eunice (Purdie) Kennedy of Bethel, Ct.  Ann was particularly close to her nieces and nephews; especially Lauren (Foley) Niles and her husband, Justin of Roslindale, MA, as well as Colleen Kennedy and Raymond Kennedy of Bethel, CT, Stephen Kennedy, his wife Lexi, and daughter, Quinn of Fairfield, CT, and Sean Kennedy and Collin Kennedy of Stratford, CT.

Plans will be announced for celebrations of Ann’s life in both California and Rhode Island.

Donations in Ann’s memory may be made to Project Open Hand, 730 Polk St., San Francisco, CA 94109.
